...I'd also caught him trying to read it...but I think it may have been a bit difficult as it is twice the size of our feathered friend...
...so I took pity on Mr. Pigeon and bought him a little present to make things easier for him...
...although I still wasn't sure what a pigeon would want with a German dictionary...
...I did ask, but was told to mind my own business....charming.
He then demanded a lift on my bicycle (with a folded piece of paper under his wing)...
...to one of my favourite places- Cafe Frisch, the best bakery in Heidelberg.
( I should point out that I was alone, had been hanging around suspiciously outside the bakery for about 10 minutes holding a woolly pigeon , waiting for an opportune moment (i.e. a moment when nobody would be watching) and just as I though the coast was clear, that woman appeared and must have thought I was a complete lunatic...you can see it in her face)
Anyway, Mr. Pigeon emerged a few minutes later with a package and I gave him and his mystery item a lift home...

Oooh we're all drooling here!! That cake looks divine.
Good to see Mr P trying to communicate with the natives! How very unBritish of him ;)

what a clever little pigeon and what yummy looking cake!!! Good job you didn't take Nigel instead - he may have proven rather more conspicuous!

Now, did Herr Taube actually get to eat any of that cake??
I love the photo outside the shop- yes complete lunatic!! But hey, aren't all us pigeon buffs!
deutsche frauen gücken immer so!
He does have excellent taste in cake!
So, how fast was that woman running away from you ... ?
Awwwww..... this is so cute!
Didn't realise you are back in Heidelberg - should really organise another knitting meeting. Would absolutely love to meet Mr.Pigeon... :D
Waow! Mr Pigeon knows how to look after himself! That cakes looks yummy!
He will be fluent in german soon. hhmm...I will be in Erlangen for 3 weeks in June, do you think he could fly there and be my translator? I'll feed him with cakes. ;0)))
ha ha ha - crazy english lady with wooly pigeon takes photo outside cake shop. The poor germans don't know what's hit them.
I can ask for cake, beer and a hotel room (with bath and shower) for as many nights as I need in German...but that's it.
ps. the cushion is indeedy one of mine. His Gingerness is rather fond of it.
Sounds to me like Mr Pigeon's got his foreign language learning priorities in exactly the right order :) That cakes looks divine!
ROFL @ the woman outside the bakery! She was probably considering a call to the local psych ward ;)

Mr. P certainly knows how to pick up the lingo when he needs something. That cake looks delicious and is obviously way to big for a small pigeon, I hope you helped him out.
Do you wear a badge saying "Sorry I'm British!" when you're out taking photos? It would help the locals understand. Hee hee.

Just don't let Herr Taube go carrying any funny notes into banks, now, especially with you waiting outside the door!
What an amazing little MR P, can't fault his cake decision! Looks delicious.
YUM.. and he looks so sweet in his sun hat in the previous post...
I left this message (below) for you under your comment on my blog but then i thought that i would drop by and deliver it personally.
Im glad i did as I can not get enough of your/Mr. Pigeon's adventures and now that Monkey Maker has retired i am a little lost ...xox eve xox
RE- WACOM TABLETS
It is the bamboo Fun wacom. I would of prefered the Next size up but this one is easy to transport and it comes with a wireless mouse that the bigger one didn't have.
It came with Corel 3 as a softwear bundle thingy but i prefer the simplicity of other drawing programmes.. although, Corel has some groovy stuff on it i really do not want to have to stuff around that much with effects and toooo many buttons etc
Does that help?
I asked a professional photographer friend of mine what he would recommend and he said WACOM too! So there you go,I even got you a second/experts opinion
Thanks for the email and for dropping by

hahaha As a fan of the recently retired Monkee Maker it's fab to find a relative of Greg's (your Mr P). Seems he's just as clever as Greg too.
I've only just found you after your comment on my blog (thanks for that). As a crash course in The Pigeon Loft here's a tag so I can learn more about you and your fibre friends. *TAG*
Cheers

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - oh, yes, I know that look!
But by god, I should say it was worth the odd person thinking you're a nutter if the end result is that GORGEOUS looking cake!
Loving your little pigeon sketches, as ever.
:)
I had to laugh at the picture outside the bakery - with the lady with that look of "WHAT THE?!" I hope that Mr P didn't eat all of that by himself. You'll have to let out his stitches a little if he did.... :)
Hi there, sorry to be cheeky. I have tagged you, have a look at my blog and see what its all about!!!
Laughing laughing.. Isn't it good to look weird every now and again!
A pigeon on a mission!
Herr Taube should try Gundel bakery in the old town (university square). And see what he thinks of Heidelberger Schlosskugel.
this post has totally made my day - so adorable!
Mr Pigeon should have tried this:
